Vitiated Vāyu affecting the joints causes pain swelling and impairment of the function of the joints and this is known as Sandhigata-Vāta. In this condition big joints like knee are particularly affected. | ||
Treatment | ||
Single Drugs
1. Eraṇḍa Taila (castor oil) – 12 to 24 ml. to be taken with warm water for Virecana (purgative) once a day. | ||
Simple Preparations
1. Take leaf of Sambhālū - 2 g., leaf of Bilva (bael)- 2 g., root of Pṛśniparṇī (china flower)- 2 g. Juice of Ārdraka (ginger)- 5 to 10 ml. and make Kalka. It is to be taken with 1 g. Saindhava (rock-salt) thrice a day. | ||
Compound Preparations
1. Vātagajāṅkuśa: 1 to 3 Vaṭī to be taken with warm water thrice a day. | ||
External Applications 1. Hot lepa of seed of Sarṣapa (mustard), Elavāluka (aloe), Bark of Śigru (horse-radish), Marica (black pepper), Ārdraka (ginger), kṛṣṇa Lavaṇa, root of Dhattūra (datura) to be applied on the affected joint. |
