The abnormal protrusion of small intestine is called Āntra Vṛddhi. Commonly in case of a male it protrudes through inguinal canal into the scrotum and in case of a female it forms a glandular mass beneath the inguinal ligament. The pecularity of the swelling is this that on applying pressure from below it disappears but reappears after removing the pressure. | ||
Treatment To cure the disease surgical intervention is necessary. In case of strangulated hernia immediate hospitalization is recommended. | ||
Local Applications
1. Apply T bandage. | ||
Pathya Laghu Dravya like old rice of Śāli variety, soup of Mudga (phaseolus bean), bulb of Rasona (garlic), Nimbū Pānaka; fruits of Kāravellaka (bitter gourd) and Paṭola (variety of small cucumber); leaves of Śigru (horse-radish) and Vāstūka (a variety of chenopodium) are useful for this disease. | ||
Apathya Dravya having Tikta, Kaṭu and Kaṣāya Rasa and Rūkṣa and Guru properties; Tila (sesame) and Śimbi Dhānya (legumes) are harmful for the patients of Āntra Vṛddhi. |
