The headache which begins with the sunrise, increases up to the mid day, thereafter starts decreasing and is relieved with the sunset is known as Sūryāvarta. It occurs particularly behind the eye brow. | ||
Treatment | ||
Single Drugs 1. Ghee 12 to 24 g. to be taken with 250 ml. milk thrice a day. | ||
External Applications 1. Prepare a Nasya of ghee - 1 g., Saindhava (rock salt)-0.5 g. and Daśamūla Kvātha-28 ml. Its 2 to 4 drops to be instilled in the nose. 2. Prepare a Nasya of Keśara-(saffron)- 1/16th part with ghee-2 parts and its 2 to 4 drops instill in the nose. | ||
Pathya Śāli and Ṣaṣṭi varities of rice; fruits of Paṭola (a variety of small cucumber snake gourd) and Śigru (horse radish); leaf of Vāstūka (a variety of chenopodium), fruit of Kāravellaka (bitter gourd), Kumārī (aloe); fruit of Drākṣā (raisin or grape) and Āmra (mango), fruit rind of Āmalakī (embelic myrobalan), fruits of Dāḍima (pomegranate), Bījapūra (lemon) and Nārikela (coconut); Karpūra (camphor); roots of Uśīra (khas) and Mustaka (motha); whole plan of Bhṛṅgarāja; milk, Takra (butter milk), Kāñjī, old ghee; and moonlight are useful for the patient of Śiro-Roga. | ||

Ślīpada is a progressive swelling of lower limb which generally develops after the attack of fever. In this condition due to solid oedema the foot and leg of the patient become hard like stone. Sometimes the disease also affects hand and scrotum. | ||
Treatment Complete rest during fever and maximum use of Rasona (garlic) in the food. | ||

1. Powdered seed of Vidhārā-3 to 6 g. to be taken with Gomūtra (cow’s urine)-7 to 14 ml. twice a day. | ||

1. Decoction of root or leaf or bark of Śakhoṭaka-14 to 28 ml. to be taken twice a day. | ||
Compound Preparations
1. Mañjiṣṭhādi Kvātha: 14 to 28 ml. to be taken twice a day. | ||
External Applications Hot Lepa of equal part of Kalka of leaf of Dhattūra (datura), Eraṇḍa (castor), and Nirguṇḍī, bark of Śigru (horse radish) and root of Śveta Punarnavā in Sarṣapa Taila (mustard oil) to be applied on the affected part. | ||
Pathya Seeds of Yava (barley) and Kulattha (dolichos bean), Taṇḍula (rice); leaf of Paṭola (a variety of small cucumber), fruits of Śigru (horse radish) and Kāravellaka (bitter gourd); root of Punarnavā (pig weed); Mūlaka (radish), leaf of Upodikā (Indian spinach), bulb of Rasona (garlic); Eraṇḍa Taila (castor oil) are useful for the patient of Ślīpada. | ||
Apathya Guru, Abhiṣyandi, Piṣṭamaya Dravya, milk products are harmful for the patient of Ślīpada. |
