Distension of abdomen due to the accumulation of gases accompanied by colicy pain is known as Ādhmāna. | ||
Treatment Apply for fomentation and turpentine stoop on the abdomen. | ||
Single Drugs 1. 1 g. of Saindhava Lavaṇa (rock salt) and 5 g. of Ārdraka (ginger), to be taken twice a day. | ||
Simple Preparations
1. Decoction of equal part of Triphalā and Trikaṭu – 14 to 28 ml., to be taken twice a day. | ||
Compound Preparations
1. Pācana Cūrṇa: 2 to 6 g. is to be taken with 50 ml. warm water twice a day. | ||
Local Applications 1. Dāruṣaṭaka Lepa to be applied on the abdomen. | ||
Pathya Laghu Anna like Mudga (phaseolus bean), old Śāli variety of rice; bulb of Rasona (garlic); fruits of Kāravellaka (bitter gourd) and Śigru (horse radish), leaf and fruit of Paṭola (a variety of small cucumber); and leaf of Vāstūka (a variety of chenopodium – white goosefoot) are the useful articles of diet for the patient of Ādhmāna. | ||
Apathya Kaṭu, Tikta, Kaṣāya, Rūkṣa and Guru Anna; seed of Tila (seasame), Śimbi Dhānya (legumes) are harmful for the patient of Ādhmāna. Incompatible items of food in diet, unnatural postures, sexual intercourse, sitting up at nights, exercise, suppression of urges, anger and grief should be avoided. |
